In a bid to scrape as many votes together as possible, the Lib Dems have pledged to fully legalise cannabis for recreational use. It is a risky move which will likely alienate any voters whose main focus in life is to concern themselves with others and what they do in their own time.
The New Age Man spoke to Haroon, a 26-year-old regular pot smoker from London who said:
“I bet there are thousands of teenagers up and down the UK who are not willing to break the law, waiting to see if peng [weed] will be legalised. There is so much riding on this election, did you know that weed can cure any illness?"
Until weed is made legal, I’m just going to have to keep smoking weed.”
When questioned about the legalisation of cannabis and the potential effect on votes, Lib Dem leader Tim Farron said:
“My only concern is that pot smokers might sleep in or forget who to vote for when they get in the booth. The fact there is a Green party on the ballot paper will only add to the confusion.”
